The country's third-largest telecom operator Reliance Communications on Thursday dropped 3G data tariffs by more than 50%, bringing it with 2G mobile internet prices in 13 circles, including Delhi and Mumbai.
Well to start with i was driving today and heared an AD in radio about Reliance offering 3G at the rate of 2G. I could not belive at my ears but thought to myself that one or the other day this has to happened which i think may bring price war between all telecom operators and for you all and for me this is a good news
What could have made RCom to take this step, wouldn't it backfire if the fall in tariffs did not increase volumes sufficiently or just to increase customer base or to penetrate in 3G because even users using 3G phone doesnt really use 3G or to create a price war. Whatever it is we the comman man would be reaping the benefits
Airtel, Tata Tele, Vodafone and Idea have reduced 2G & 3G tariff's but after consuming your actual usage which according to me is a just a "marketing gimmick", they didn't reduced the plan pack and here is where RCOM has provided us an option
Tariff plans for 1GB of 3G data is Rs 123 which is almost same as the price of 2G.At present, 2G Internet for 1 GB usage costs Rs 125 on the RCOM's network.
Reliance Communications also reduced prices for 2GB and 4GB pack on 3G network to Rs 246 and Rs 492 respectively, which is around 35 to 45% lower than its competitors
Reliance Communications has 3G services in 13 circles that include Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Assam and the North East.
Time will tell us whether other telecom operators would slash 3G tariff or not if they do not then i am definitely going to convert to Reliance via keeping the same number again a plus from TRAI
Finally Kudos to Reliance Communications for showing us the real meaning of reduction of tariff of 3G
